About Us
The Mundanes are the first podcast on Cassandra Clare's epic series, The Mortal Instruments. The trilogy encompasses the books City of Bones, City of Ashes, and the upcoming City of Glass. Each week the Mundanes will discuss everything relating to the Mortal Instruments trilogy: the latest news, all the books, chapter by chapter, character discussions and more.

Tom

Tom was born on May 18th, 1981. He lives in Buffalo, NY and is working on his PhD in immunology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He discovered the Mortal Instruments books by being a fan of both Harry Potter and Twilight series. Other favorite book series include the Dune series, His Dark Materials, and The Looking Glass Wars. He likes shows such as Heroes, Chuck, CSI, Mythbusters and Southpark. He listens to a lot of different music, but past concerts he has attended include Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, Our Lady Peace, U2, Matthew Good, and many more. Favorite movies include Star Wars, Borne Series, Fight Club, Boondock Saints, and the New Batman films. When it comes to sports, he is a huge Buffalo Sabres and Cleveland Indians fan. He loves to ride his bike and play golf when he gets the chance and the weather is nice.

Kaylee

Kaylee was born January 1 in the cold state of Michigan. But now she resides in the overwhelming heat of Florida. Her life ambition is to move to England. She loves the history and the beauty in the old buildings. Plus she’s a sucker for a British accent. When it comes to reading the YA section of Barnes and Noble is her best friend. Some of her favorite book series include the Blue is for Nightmare Series, Twilight Series, The Midnighters Series, The Harry Potter Series, The Gemma Doyle Series, well you get the point. Other fandom’s that she tends to never shut up about are Twilight, Harry Potter and she’s always talking about this Nerdfighters thing that we’ve traced back to the author John Green.

When it comes to the tele she’s always blabbing about One Tree Hill, Supernatural, Gossip Girl, Greek, Instant Star, Skins, well you get the gist. As far as music goes she’s all over the spectrum and can be found listening to anything from Slipknot to McFly (word of advice, never talk to her about McFly/Busted/Son of Dork or Dean Winchester unless you have a couple of hours to spare) Concert going is her favorite hobby outside of reading and talking. She is currently starting school to be a medical transcription and once she has started her career there she is planning on going back to school for Graphic Design. If you want to know anything else don’t be afraid to ask

Katy

Katy is a crazy little girl from a nice little suburban town of Michigan. Moving out and going to boarding school was probably the best decision of her life, though it has probably made her sense of humor crippled for all eternity. She was born on October 9th (mark your calendars now, she will expect birthday presents/wishes) and ended up scratching her face the moment she got out of her mother's womb. Her life ambition was made clear at the age of 3 when she was video taped singing "Fosty No Man" by her dad. Ever since, she has been singing up a storm and studying under world famous conductors and teachers who have performed all over the world. Her love of music has led her into the northern pines of Michigan and now to the living, breathing metropolis of Boston, Mass. She loves the city and has made many good friends with the neighborhood rats who run past her as she walks home from class.

Reading is something that goes in phases for Katy, she loves reading easy material and more difficult and dense material as well. Some of her favorites include, Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky, Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien, A Dangerous Woman by Mary McGarry Morris, Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, What Happened to Lani Garver? By Carol Plum-Ucci, The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare (of course) and so on and so forth. The list continues, but she won't bore you any longer. Her love for music also is a long list of many different singers, songwriters and bands. Her top 5 favorite of the popular music persuasion is Rosie Thomas, Eva Cassidy, K's Choice, The Beatles and Kate Walsh. They write beautiful music with lyrics that provoke and inspire me. Wonderful musicians – I take my hat off to all of you. This is a long list, but so be it.

Megan

Megs was born February 9th in Salt Lake City, Utah and is a college student studying Digital Media with an emphasis in TV and Cinema Editing. She has some experience in audio editing and has loved the work that she does for the Mundanes. Megs edits all of our shows on Sony Vegas 7.0 (and highly recommends it.) Megs has a very wide variety of music that she prefers, from The Mormon Tabernacle to Avenge Seven Fold and everything in between besides country and rap. Some of her favorite bands are Smash Mouth, Owsely, OneRepublic, A Fine Frenzy, Colors... (the list could go on but who really wants to read all that?) When it comes to Television Megs doesn’t watch much anymore except maybe Torchwood and reruns of Will and Grace, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel (and Full House but don’t tell anyone). If you ask Megs what her favorite movie is she will ask you which category because there are many!

Although she hasn’t read the whole series yet she thoroughly enjoys Cassandra Claire’s writing. Some of Megs’ favorite author’s are Stephanie Meyer, J.K. Rowling, Jack Weyland and much, much more. If there was one book that she would suggest it would be … “The Princess Bride, because if you think that the movie is hilarious, you haven’t seen anything until you read the novel.”

Cat

Angelique, or Cat as she is known to most as, is 15 and lives in California. She is currently enrolled in Independent Study, so she does not go to a normal school, which she pretty much likes except for the fact she doesn’t get to see her friends as much. She loves Harry Potter, Twilight, Arthurian Folklore, Doctor Who, and Torchwood. She also loves art and when she sees some new art style she always wants to try it out. Currently she is more into Disney style drawings and also Photo Manipulations. She is wanting to attend Academy of the Arts University in San Francisco, but that is unlikely to happen unless she gets a scholarship or her parents win the lottery. Also she loves Roleplaying and has been doing it for over a year. She has had about fifteen characters in that time, most of which from the Harry Potter realm. She typically goes for Marauder Era roleplays, where she typically plays Andromeda Black, but on occasion she will join a next generation.

Fun Facts: -She thinks she can live off cheese, roast beef, and tea -She is extremely paranoid -She can be too modest and never feels good enough for praising (note: complimenting her is pointless) -She believes that all decent photos of her can only be taken by herself -The shows recording on her DVR are: Ugly Betty, Doctor Who, House, The Graham Norton Show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Family Guy, and House

Jess

Jess was born on January 13 in California's Inland Empire, where she has lived out her whole little suburban existence. Her only goal in life is to never have a permanent residence, to live out of a suitcase as she travels from country to country. She will soon be going to four year university as an anthropology major. In her spare time, she writes short stories, which are so horridly bad that she will never let another soul read them. Her favorite author is Jack Kerouac, and she can often be heard singing Beatles songs to herself. Lately, she has tried to learn the ancient art of Tarot card reading, but finds she doesn't quite have the patience for it. However, her palm reading skills are amazingly accurate in their scope.
